A study has shown that tooth loss in middle-aged adults can affect heart health.
– In a study of women and men between 45-69 years of age, those who had recently lost two or more teeth were almost a quarter more likely to develop coronary heart disease.
– This was independent of other known risk factors such as poor diet and high blood pressure.
– Minimise tooth loss by following a good oral care routine and seeing your dentist for regular check-ups.
“No significant increase in risk was found for those participants who said that they had only lost one tooth.”
