Why Should You Consider Dental Veneers?

A dentist will often recommend veneers if you have issues with your teeth -- chips, gaps, uneven teeth, discoloured teeth. Veneers will often be used if traditional orthodontic treatments and cleanings will not solve the problem.

Veneers are wafer-thin porcelain sleeves that are affixed to your teeth to hide these imperfections.

A few more facts about veneers:

- Veneers can help to decrease tooth sensitivity to hot and cold foods.

- Veneers don’t require invasive dentistry like drilling.

- Veneers are durable and will last for years if properly maintained.

"Dental veneers are an excellent choice for patients who want to transform their smile but have numerous issues that need to be corrected."

Toothbrush Maintenance

Choosing the right toothbrush and knowing how to use it properly are fundamental to good dental care. However, once purchased, many people do not take proper care of their toothbrush. They  continue to use it long after it should have been replaced.

Some best practises for toothbrushes include:

- Rinse the brush after use

- Never share even with family members

- Replace when frayed or worn

Your dentist can recommend the correct toothbrush for you but maintaining the brush in top condition to keep teeth and gums as healthy as possible is equally important. A detailed article on maintaining your toothbrush as “an effective tool in your oral care” can be found at https://yourdentalhealthresource.com/top-tips-for-storing-your-toothbrush-and-keeping-it-clean/

How To Deal With Dental Phobia

The best way to deal with a severe dental phobia is to enlist the help of a good dentist who works with nervous patients. This dentist must be fully aware that it's not always the thought of drills on your teeth that are the issue. The dentist must realise that you may even be phobic about making a dental appointment.

Here's how to involve a dentist in overcoming your dental phobia:

- Find a dentist you feel is sympathetic to your phobia.

- Have a consultation discuss your fears and anxieties.

- Discuss techniques to keep you comfortable during an examination or procedure, such as sedation.

"If you find that you're still uncomfortable with the idea of going to the dentist for any type of treatment, it may be beneficial to find a dentist who utilizes sedation dentistry."

Reduce Swelling After Wisdom Tooth Removal

As well as pain after wisdom teeth removal, there will be swelling. Follow the recovery advice given by your dentist, as well as these tips:

- Keep your head up and elevated (propped by a cushion) as this will encourage good blood flow

- Apply a hot or cold compress to the area for 20 minutes

- Soften chamomile tea bags as if you were making tea then chew gently on the tea bags

- Rinse with salted water.

"For many patients, the swelling will begin to decrease after the first few days—in the meantime, try these remedies to decrease swelling and feel better faster!"

What to Do if Baby has Chipped a Tooth

Baby teeth are fragile by their nature and a chip can occur from time to time. Parents can prevent further discomfort if they are aware of what steps should be taken. Here are three suggestions which should always be followed.

- Contact a dentist as soon as possible.

- Store the fragment (if it has been located) in milk or saliva.

- Employ a cold compress to eliminate any perceived discomfort.

"Quick action after the accident can help prevent infection and discomfort, so never ignore your baby’s chipped tooth."

Hi, Im Aarti Kohli Jain and I moved up to Andover Smile Centre because of their particular approach to dentistry is BEAUTIFULLY SIMPLE… minimal treatment…beautiful smiles.

Well, what I can do is improve your smile with new minimal dentistry techniques and a very gentle touch, which means that your teeth will look fantastic and be healthy and long lasting, so you can be more confident when you meet new people.

I am very interested in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and facial aesthetics and this allows me to help people who are conscious and unhappy about various aspects of their smile, teeth and gums to achieve optimal health, function and aesthetics.

The satisfaction I receive as a dentist, knowing I am helping people improve their smiles and lead happier, healthier lives with increased self-esteem is hugely gratifying.

I have a very gentle and caring approach towards my patients especially the nervous ones and try my best to allay their anxieties and phobias and treat them in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

I graduated in India in 2002 and since then have worked in both hospital and private dental settings. I completed my year-long vocational training at Blackbrook Dental Practice, Taunton and subsequently worked in private dental practices in the Hampshire area (Oasis Dental Care, Andover; Marshall's Dental Practice and Linden Dental Centre in Old Basing, Basingstoke).

I enjoy spending time with my family especially my daughter Aanya. I love adventure sports and travelling. My next personal goal is to learn to swim so I can undertake scuba diving training with my husband. Some people can often spell my name wrong Arty, Arti or Artie - I don’t mind but really it’s Aarti!
